Where can I buy credit default swaps?

I’ve heard alot about the credit default swaps in all the news coverage. Where do buy them? No one in any bank I know of know where all this financial stuff is happening. Where is all this trading taking place?

These are not available to ordinary folks. Big banks, insurance companies and brokerages engaged in these guarantee arrangements and almost went bust. You should not be interested !!

If you are holding millions of dollars in bonds, you go to an investment bank like Goldman Sachs and negotiate the terms. They can’t trade on an exchange because they are not standard instruments.
