What bank should do when a deposited cheque drawn on overseas bank is found not genuine? Will they return ?
Sugata B asked:
If a deposited cheque is found by the bank is not genuine what the bank will do? My question is 1. will they return the instrument to the depositor after defacing it? 2. Will they Keep the instrument with them and just say that it is not genuine?
What are the instructions given to the banker by the RBI in this regard and where it is mentioned in the guideline of RBI or any other competent authority?

Some where I heard of scam like this,,, Laws in other countries are different so bank cant pursue like in our country. However things may of changed, best to let them handel it and it may take long time to hear conclusion. Just ask the main claims dept questions and they will have you file claim also. *mamatx patsy m
