asked: I want to switch from Citibank to a new bank in Chicago. I live downtown and there are so many options. There are very large banks, such as Chase, and then there are smaller banks, such at Fifth Third Bank. All I need are a checking account and a savings account. Any suggestions?

Elestra asked: Obviously you can write checks using a checking account, but other than that, why would you use a checking account over a savings account? And can you use a debit card with a saving account, or is that also only checking?

Noblesville.org asked: I have heared a commercial for a bank that has a checking account, that when you purchase something with your debit card it will round all of your purchases up to the nearest dollar and automaticly deposit the difference into a savings account.
Example:
I buy a pack of gum for $1.25
It rounds that up to $2.00
And deposits $0.75
into a savings account

I currently have a few thousand dollars just sitting in the bank in a savings account, not growing or anything. Is there anything else I could do with it that is a safe investment but will still get me a higher rate of return?

???? asked: This question applies to Bank of America.
If you want a checkings account (campus edge checking account), do you need to have a savings account open.
There’s not even $200 in the checkings and I don’t have the $300 to put in the savings in order to waive the monthly fees.
Can I cancel the savings and stay only with the checkings account?
