How to deposit checks into your checking account?

I have two checks from my work that I want to deposit into my account, but the problem is, I’m not in my hometown where I opened up my checking account, currently in college. So when I go to the branch, what do I need to do to deposit my checks into my account? Also, can someone else deposit my checks, say as in I mail my checks to my dad and he deposits them into my account, what would he need?
