Lonely asked: I have a check from a friend and I need to cash it but I no longer have a checking account and the bank my friend uses is not near where I live. Is there a way to cash it somewhere else? I have tried check cashing places but they only cash payroll checks.

Samian’s Sixth Account asked: I’m a college student and I checked into a youth hostel today, but unfortunately they didn’t accept my personal checks, and I had to use cash. So right now, I’m very short on money, although I do have a good bit of savings in my checking account.
If I go to my bank and bring my checkbook and State ID, would that be all I need to withdraw money from my checking account?
What would I have to do to get cash?

Jon asked: Say if I have $80 in my checking account and $1,000 in my savings account with the same bank under the same account. I then make a purchase on my check card for $100…clearly the $80 in my checking account won’t be able to purchase this, but the transaction still goes thru.
Would the $20 remaining be withdrawn from my savings account, or would I be hit with a bunch of charges?

Rookie_Journalist asked: I am starting a book publishing company. It’s small, no employees, just myself. I have 2 clients and plan to sell the books online. What’s the best bank to do business with, and the best biz checking account they offer, considering the small scale of business? Want one that does not have a high monthly fee or require a large daily balance, and preferably with a bank with locations nationwide. I am located in Washington, DC. Thanks.

leones50 asked: I live in Griffin, GA and can’t decide on who to bank with. I’ve heard good things about both United Bank and First National Bank (please don’t suggest any others.) But i can’t quite decide on who to go with in terms of opening up a checking account. If I could get someone who’s experienced service from both to give a short list of services where one bank excels and the other lacks, or anything of the sort, it would be most certainly appreciated! Thanks!

gene_blackthorne asked: I’m wanting to transfer funds from a checking account at one bank to a checking account at another. I want to write a check deposit it. Who do I make the check out to? Myself? The bank? Cash?

The problem is, one account only has about $4, and the other account is at about $-3.86, and I have to transfer money on my lunch hour, so I don’t get popped for overdraft fees. That’s why I just wanted to go to one bank, deposit a check and be done, instead of driving all over. But thanks all! I’ll just make it out to myself.
