vikkmathis asked: I was recently fired from my job and wish to transfer my 401K over to the company I’m now working for. The rep. I spoke with said I would not be able to do this because the company I use to work for still have me listed as active. I was told that until they remove me from their payroll I couldn’t do anything with my 401. The thing is I’ve been away from this company for nearly a month now and they still haven’t removed me from their payroll. Who do I need to call to make them get off their A$$ and do their job?

Pablo asked: I would like to withdraw funds to purchase and investment property from my 401k. the 401K is with an old employer. What is the best way to get the funds without being penalized or paying taxes? Someone told me to transfer to an IRA account. Is that true?
OK, I am 35 and married.

I have a 401k from a place i worked at 2 years ago. I since have gone back to school and am aiming at my master, possibly doctorate. I am 24 and live in south florida. My 401k has $2841.28 currently. What would i get back if i closed it and took my money? How would i got about getting it?
I need the money because my gorlfriend and i decided to buy a townhouse and i need money for the down payment. I would keep it in but i desperately need the money.

That One Guy asked: I’m 23 years old, and currently have 100% of my 401k in stock-based mutual funds. I’m worried that if the market comes down, I’ll be out a sizable chunk of my retirement money if all of it is in stocks/mutual funds.
My plan offers a few highly-rated bond funds. Would having a bond fund help bear-proof my portfolio a little?
If you think it wouldn’t be a bad idea for me to add a bond fund, what percentage of my contributions should be going into it?
Thanks for any insight you can give!

I’m planning to quit my job, roll over a 401k, is it better to take a loan while still employed, roll over to another account after separation and take a disbursement? which way saves me money?

I am in my early 40s and have watched my 401k drop by about 40%. What’s a good rule of thumb when looking at your 401k balance? How much money should you have saved by your early 40s?

I have a 401k from the job I just left. I want to start a small business. How can I use a portion of this to start up my business and not pay a fortune in taxes, as well as reinvesting the rest in a rollover IRA?
