How long will it take to get my 401k check?

401k
Oliver J asked:

If I quit mt job today. How long will it take to get my 401k check?

I am planning on closing it out, even with all the penalties so I can get out of this debt.!

Anyone have an idea how long it will take? Months maybe?

    A) Don’t quit your job just to get at the 401k money.

    B) If quitting for other reasons, time will vary from company to company. Visit the website (call, if no website, document everything discussed over the phone) and search for your query.

Best guess would be 30-60 days once the paperwork to your 401k company is turned in (they have to make sure you quit ;)

It’s like nails down a chalkboard for me to see all you young people doing whatever it takes to cash out your 401(k). There is no reason good enough to cash out your retirement accounts.

I work for a retirement services company and we will mail out a distribution check within 3 business days of receipt of the paperwork from your Plan Administrator or Human Resources Department. If you need it quickly, stay on top of your HR Department and anyone else involved.
