How does a banking work?

Im 18 yrs old and im planning to open a account. But i dont know how banking works. i dont want to ask my parents about banking because i want to surprise them. Pls explain in simple terms how a bank works.

to open an account, you must deposit and maintain a certain amount of money at the bank. as time goes the money would grow through the interest it gives.

Read this book: “Personal Finance For Dummies.” It has all sorts of info such as what you’re asking.
