Do I report my 401k interest income on my tax return?

401k
kiki asked:

I didn’t get anything from my 401k provider, at least not that I know of. Was I supposed to get a 1099 or something?

No there is nothing to report. No tax until withdrawal.

no. unless your using the money from your 401k, you don’t need to report anything

Nope. That’s the biggest advantage of a 401k…that’s also why they penalize you when you withdraw early.

No, appreciation in a 401K isn’t reported. You’ll report the money as income when you withdraw it. You’ll get a form 1099-R for the amount withdrawn.
