I need some examples of extra precautions online banking websites have, e.g. I’ve heard something about certain banks sending you a text message when you try to log in with some kind of confirmation code. I’m with halifax and the most they have is a security question which doesn’t go very far in my college assignment.

I found out that I have spyware. I used my online banking for about 2 minutes the day before I found the virus. Can someone go back to the day before and get my password, or do you need to actually be typing in the password in order for someone to get it. Your help would be appreciated.

Can banks offering Internet Banking expect their customers to have better Internet security protection than the banks’ own protection?

In this scenario the customer’s username n password were stolen via a keylogger following which the perpetrator steals the customer’s money. (How does this make a difference?) Can the bank insist that the customer’s security be better than its own? (I’m on the customer’s side)

Details and sources please?
